AI technical SEO makes sure search engines and AI crawlers can access, render and understand your website: robots rules, AI bot policies, llms.txt, sitemaps, rendering, speed, internal links and server logs.
AI tools can only cite what their crawlers can fetch and parse. Many sites accidentally block AI bots, hide content behind JavaScript or bury key pages. Fixing access is the cheapest visibility gain available.

React: strengths and SEO essentials
React is a JavaScript library that suits interactive interfaces and web apps. For search and AI visibility the essentials are server-side rendering or static generation so content is visible to crawlers. The main things to watch are client-side-only rendering hides content from many bots.
Signs you need AI Search readiness
- Server logs have never been checked for AI crawlers
- You are not sure which AI bots your firewall or robots.txt blocks
- You are considering an llms.txt file
- Key content loads only after JavaScript runs
- Important pages are orphaned or deep in the site
Scope of work
AI crawler access audit
Robots.txt, CDN, firewall and bot-management rules checked for GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Bingbot and others.
Bot policy
A clear decision per crawler: allow for search and answers, block or limit for training, based on your goals.
Log file analysis
Which bots crawl which pages, how often, and where they hit errors.
llms.txt
A curated llms.txt that points AI tools to your most important, up-to-date pages, published as a low-cost experiment.
Sitemaps and canonicals
Clean XML sitemaps, correct canonicals and status codes.
Internal linking
Shallow, logical paths to priority pages so crawlers and users reach them quickly.
Rendering checks
Server-side or pre-rendered output for content that matters, verified with fetch tests.
Performance
Core Web Vitals and server response fixes that help every crawler and user.

How I work
- Collect. Robots.txt, CDN and firewall settings, sitemaps and 30 to 90 days of server logs.
- Test access. Fetch key pages as each major crawler and compare the output.
- Decide policy. Agree which bots to allow, limit or block, and why.
- Implement. Update rules, rendering, sitemaps, llms.txt and links with your developer or directly.
- Verify. Confirm with logs and live tests that the right bots now reach the right pages.
Common AI crawlers
| Crawler | Operator | Typical purpose |

| Googlebot | Search index used by AI Overviews and AI Mode | |
| Google-Extended | Control token for Gemini model use, not ranking | |
| OAI-SearchBot / ChatGPT-User | OpenAI | ChatGPT search results and live browsing |
| GPTBot | OpenAI | Model training |
| PerplexityBot | Perplexity | Perplexity search index |
| ClaudeBot | Anthropic | Model training and retrieval |
| Bingbot | Microsoft | Bing index used by Copilot and other assistants |
How success is measured

- AI crawler hits on priority pages
- Crawl errors and blocked requests
- Pages rendered with full content
- Index coverage
- Time to first crawl for new pages

Frequently asked questions
Why check server logs?
Logs show what crawlers actually do, not what you hope they do. They reveal blocked bots, wasted crawl on junk URLs and pages that are never visited.
Can JavaScript sites be cited by AI tools?
Yes, if the important content is in the initial HTML or reliably rendered. Many AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript, so server-side rendering is the safe choice.
My CDN blocks bots by default. Is that a problem?
It can be. Some CDN and security settings block AI crawlers silently. I check and adjust these rules with you.
Is llms.txt an official standard?
No. It is a proposed convention and support varies by tool. It is cheap to add and can help some AI tools find your key pages, but it does not replace robots.txt, sitemaps or good content.
Does blocking GPTBot remove me from ChatGPT search?
Not necessarily. OpenAI uses different user agents for training and for search. You can block training while allowing the search crawler, which is a common choice.
